Elevated Commercial Storm Drain

Elevated Commercial Storm Drain
Elevated Commercial Storm Drain

The expert team at Element Plumbing & Gas recently completed repairs on an elevated commercial storm drain at a height of 14 metres, inside a heavy machinery workshop in South Guildford. When it comes to stormwater drainage projects, we complete all the necessary steps to ensure our work complies to AS/NZS 3500.3, Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Council’s Design Standards (AUS-SPEC) and the National Construction Code. The maximum velocity being 2.5m/s and the maximum flow is 20L/s. Any site with a discharge of greater than 20L/s is required to connect directly into the local council’s piped stormwater system via a pit and/or pipe.

The commercial storm drain repairs included:

  • Fixing damaged pipework to prevent runoff from entering the building
  • Minimising flood risk
  • Reducing adverse environmental impact caused by excess runoff
  • Encouraging water conservation through the reuse of stormwater, thus reducing reliance upon mains supplied water
  • Compliance with all codes, guidelines and legislation

To achieve these objectives, Element Plumbing & Gas made use of an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) to complete all the necessary work. Here’s our team completing our EWP training:
